BS EN ISO 8501-1 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective to this training unit is to give an overview of the BS EN ISO 8501-1 which is titled "Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products - Visual assessment of surface cleanliness - Part 1: Rust grades and preparation grades of uncoated substrates after overall removal of previous coatings"

This standard is widely used in the protective coatings industry.

Lesson 2 - BS EN ISO 8501-2

BS EN ISO 8501-2 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective to this training unit is to give an overview of the BS EN ISO 8501-2 which is titled "Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products - Visual assessment of surface cleanliness - Part 2: Preparation grades of previously coated steel substrates after localised removal of previous coatings".

Lesson 3 - BS EN ISO 8501-3

BS EN ISO 8501-3 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective to this training module is to give an overview of the BS EN ISO 8501-3 which is titled "Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products – Visual assessment of surface cleanliness".

Part 3: Preparation grades of welds, cut edges and other areas with surface imperfections.

Lesson 4 - BS EN ISO 8501-4

BS EN ISO 8501-4 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective to this training unit is to give an overview of the BS EN ISO 8501-4:2006 which is titled "Preparation of Steel Substrates before Application of Paints and Related Products - Visual assessment of surface cleanliness - Part 4: Initial surface conditions, preparation grades and flash rust grades in connection with high-pressure water jetting".

This standard is widely used in the protective coatings industry.

Lesson 5 - SSPC VIS 1

SSPC VIS 1 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective of this training unit is to give a full and comprehensive review of the SSPC-VIS1 Guide titled 'Guide and Reference Photographs for Steel Surfaces prepared by Dry Abrasive Blast Cleaning'.

On completion of this training unit the student should be able to use the visual standards in inspection duties and activities.

The SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings has a number of visual standards which are used in conjunction with written standards, of which are also joint standards with NACE International (National Association of Corrosion Engineers). This training unit along with subsequent units will fully detail the visual standards and how they are used in the Protective Coatings Industry. SSPC has allowed the use of the photographs used in these training units, however the original visual standards must be used for coating inspection activities. These standards are available at SSPC: www.sspc.org

Lesson 6 - SSPC VIS 3

SSPC VIS 3 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective of this training unit is to give a full and comprehensive review of the SSPC-VIS 3 Visual Guide titled ‘Guide and Reference Photographs for Steel Surfaces prepared by Power and Hand Tool Cleaning’

On completion of this training unit the student should be able to use the SSPC-VIS3 Guide.

Lesson 7 - SSPC VIS 4 - NACE VIS 7

SSPC VIS 4 - NACE VIS 7 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective of this training unit is to give a full and comprehensive review of SSPC-VIS 4/NACE VIS 7, titled ‘Guide and Reference photographs for steel surfaces prepared by water jetting’.

On completion of this training unit the student should be able to use the guide for inspection duties.

Lesson 8 - SSPC VIS 5 - NACE VIS 9

SSPC VIS 5 - NACE VIS 9 VISUAL STANDARDS

Objective:

The objective of this training unit is to give a full and comprehensive review of the SSPC-VIS 5/NACE VIS 9 visual guide which is titled “Guide and reference photographs for steel prepared by wet abrasive blast cleaning”

On completion of this training unit the student should be able to use the SSPC-VIS 5/NACE VIS 9 Guide.
